Hand-Blown Murano Glass Decanter Sets
We went on a buying
trip to Italy, and visited Venice.
While in that beautiful city, we sailed to a glass factory on the island
of
Murano, where we watched the glassmakers create before our eyes
absolutely fantastic works of art. We were greatly impressed with their
skill at handcrafting these items, and with the quality and strength of
these seemingly fragile objects (our tour guide dropped a goblet on the
marble floor to prove to us the durability of glass fired three times--to
our amazement, the goblet did not break.) We ended up purchasing six
decanter sets, one in each available color, and a fantastic swan.
The decanter sets
include: 1 large decanter with a lavishly gilded glass
stopper; 6 glasses; 1 candy dish; and 1 pedestal bonboniere with a top.
Every item is lavishly hand-decorated with a tiny, delicate floral pattern
in
24 kt gold and platinum. The glass sparkles beautifully and the colors are
deep and superb.
Each set comes
with a Certificate of Authenticity in four languages: the English version
reads:
Certificate of Authenticity. We certify
the absolute authenticity of the annexed item
concerning to its real handcrafting in Murano by the method called "Third
Fire".
The decoration is made with pure gold and platinum and special enamels
prepared on
purpose for handpainting. The lack of a detailled [sic] certificate must
lead you into warning
about items of similar appearance but probably of different origin and
certainly of
different artistical and technical value.
